Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

Environmental Scientist

VHB's growing I64 team is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our Water Resources team. You will have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, ranging from site to watershed scale. Projects may include, stormwater management and mitigation, ecological restoration, MS4 Compliance, transportation drainage, green infrastructure, BMP retrofits, and flood mitigation and management.

Responsibilities

    Assist in the preparation of state and federal environmental permits for public and private-sector projects
  • Research and interpret environmental laws and regulations
  • Gather and interpret required environmental project-related data
  • Preparation of various technical reports
  • Prepare reports for stormwater analyses and designs
  • Conduct data collection and field work
  • Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with others
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail

Qualifications

  • BS in a natural science-related field (e.g., Environmental Science, Biology, Landscape Architecture, Fisheries and Wildlife, Ecology, Natural Resources)
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications preferred
  • Internship experience preferred
  • Ability/willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • 0-1 year of fieldwork experience in natural habitats, whether through coursework or professional experience
  • Must have a valid driver's license
