HX5 is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The selected Electrical Engineer will support the implementation of the Human Lander System (HLS) project and the Avionics development of a dynamic radioisotope power system for position agnostic, continuous power systems, for space craft and Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS) powered missions and nuclear applications. The candidate will be tasked to support the design and testing of an avionics system for Stirling Technology Advancement for RPS Flight Payload and review electrical systems developed by contracted HLS system providers. Assignments include the electrical engineering support necessary to develop engineering, and flight grade avionics, data package, and documentation reviews. This work includes fundamental electrical design. When necessary, this includes designing and implementing component tests to verify component concepts or performance envelopes

Required Skills:

  • Electrical engineering skills necessary to develop avionics for a dynamic RPS for spacecraft and powered missions and nuclear applications.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Spacecraft Communication Buses, Payload Operations, and Data Collection.
  • A knowledge background to review command and data handling, and other electrical systems developed by contracted HLS system providers.

Other Desired Skills:

  • Skills to generate technical reports, presentation materials, and presentations to support NASA management requirements pertaining to this activity, including quarterly reports and test reports including data analysis.
  • Skills to perform avionics design and electrical testing of engineering development and flight units.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 to 10 years of experience or Master's degree with 3 to 6 years of experience

Other Position Requirements:

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
