How you will help us create value together:
As an OE Product Support Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Product Support Loading Business Unit (LBU) team. The Product Support LBU team is the factory liaison to regional distributors and affiliates responsible for reducingmachine downtime through technical support solutions. Activities will include providing resolution to technical problems resulting in end customer cost savings, implementation of corrective or upgraded components eliminating potential downtime and warranty costs. This position will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee's Harbor District! The target start date for this role is Summer 2025 and has potential to be extended into the Fall 2025 school semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Assist in case investigation, root cause analysis, containment of suspect parts of new machines being assembled globally
- Apply continuous improvement principles to identify opportunities to reduce warranty cost and improve product quality, reliability, and availability
- The development of corrective actions and creation of Engineering Change Requests
- Work with quality teams, purchasing, subcontract to mitigate new machine build issues
- Create and refine Salesforce reports and dashboards
- Assist with improvements to machine assembly documentation and collection from commissioned machines
- Manage Specific Product Issues through the issue resolution process and update the records in Salesforce accordingly
- Assist with writing and proofreading technical service documents in preparation for global distribution, which will require collaboration with subject matter experts
- Service/maintenance interval checklists (high level schedule)
Basic Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar, from an accredited college or university
- Junior or Senior level student in good academic standing
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal
- Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks
- Continuous improvement skills, problem solving, root cause analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, often will be in communication with international company representatives (Spanish a plus)
- Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous classroom and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas: (Electrical Power Systems, Electronic Drive Systems, PLC's, Mechanical Theory, Continuous Improvement 6S Lean or other)
- Interest in or aptitude to learn about careers in the heavy equipment industry
- Farming related experience is advantageous with problem solving skills
- Experience in trades skills such as Electrical Wiring, Mechanical Repair, Machine Shop or other hands-on work that aids in special awareness and problem solving
- Computer Automated Drafting/Design experience a plus, Solid Works is ideal
