Lead Design Engineer: This is where you come in.

We're seeking a Lead Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in driving project success. In this role, you'll support the sales team, provide leadership to a team of Mechanical Engineers, and oversee the layout, design, and coordination of assigned projects. Additionally, you'll contribute to the development of engineering documents, tackle complex design tasks, and ensure quality control throughout the process.

Top deliverables in the first year to be a hero:

  • Project Leadership: Take ownership of the engineering effort for projects by collaborating with external stakeholders, managing project tasks and milestones, organizing engineering workflows, and monitoring the engineering budget.
  • Sales Support: Partner with the sales team to develop innovative HVAC and plumbing solutions tailored to client needs, including creating accurate engineering budgets for proposed tasks.
  • System Design: Design high-quality mechanical and plumbing systems using Revit and/or AutoCAD, delivering completed drawings and specifications that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Equipment Sizing: Accurately size equipment, ductwork, and piping for HVAC and plumbing systems, and review and approve submittals to ensure alignment with design specifications.
  • Engineering Calculations: Perform HVAC load calculations and other essential engineering computations to support system design.
  • Industry Expertise: Stay up-to-date with codes, industry standards, emerging technologies, and company guidelines to ensure compliance and innovation.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with field personnel and external professionals, fostering a collaborative approach to project success.

The Lead Design Engineer reports directly to Steve Hargrove, Senior Engineering Manager - INW/SSP, and is an integral part of a collaborative team driving a variety of projects and initiatives to support our expanding business. This high-visibility role offers the opportunity to engage with individuals at all levels and across all functions within the organization.

Your Background: What kind of person will thrive in this role?

You should have...

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred) or at least 4 years of engineering experience.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role or demonstrated ability to take on leadership responsibilities.
  • A Professional Engineering (PE) license for Washington and/or Oregon.
  • Expertise in both mechanical and plumbing system design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.

Compensation: $120,000 to $160,000 Annually plus commission

Our Tri-Cities office is located at 106010 E Wiser Pkwy, Suite B Kennewick WA 99338. The Tri-Cities are a haven for recreation - the Snake, Yakima, and Columbia Rivers converge here, which makes this a popular destination for water sports like sailing, paddle-boarding, waterskiing, swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Not to mention the wineries, golf courses, shopping, and concerts!
