DIC Optics Corrections Internship Summer 2025

Reporting to the Director of Fuels Post Irradiation Examination Department, you will focus on characterizing digital image correlation through thick refractive media, enabling application to mechanical testing. You will assist in collection, analysis, and interpretation of test data. You will be expected to closely with staff in the post-irradiation examinations department in both group and independent settings. Documentation of work is required, and presentation of findings and results is expected at the end of the appointment.

This team works a 4x10 schedule and works onsite at the Materials and Fuels Complex next Idaho Falls Idaho. Start date and duration of internship vary based on project and student availability. You may be eligible for course credit for this internship if approved by your university.

• Undergraduate (Junior Standing or Higher) or Graduate student enrolled full time at an accredited college/university studying Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering and/or Materials Science.
• A minimum overall 3.0 GPA
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)

Compensation and Benefits:

• Undergraduate Internships ($26.16/hour - $31.47/hour)
• Masters Internships and PhD Internships Pre-Candidacy ($32.87/hour - $35.26/hour)
• PhD Internships Post-Candidacy ($35.95/hour - $38.41/hour)
• Eligible interns are provided paid holiday time off, and many of our internships offer travel reimbursements.
• Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on degree field and level of education.
