Barrel Plating Machinist - Off-Shift
Primary Essential Function
Sets-up and operates all machinery including the hand laps, hones, electrical deburring (ECDB), electrical machining (ECM), stress relief oven, bore plating. It is understood that in a working department, the specific machines and equipment are subject to change. In addition, individual machines/equipment may be added or removed. Operates two or multiple machines simultaneously when possible and operators will be performing cross-training functions as well.
Responsibilities
- Works with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Works from blueprints, process sheets, customer, company or military specifications and/or instructions from supervision.
- Maintain traveler package, maintain serial numbers, generate traceable paperwork and to physically move product within the department.
- Perform all certified operator inspection requirements. A general knowledge of SPC (control charts) and their application is necessary.
- Sets up (when required) and operates all machines, making all necessary adjustments and to machines or tools as required.
- Improvises or adapts available equipment to produce parts to blueprint and process dimensions and specifications.
- Maintains in good working order all necessary tooling, fixturing, and related accessories to support production requirements of the machines.
- Must have a good knowledge of and ability to apply shop mathematics.
- Helps to train/instruct other employees as required.
- Productivity shall be equal to or above established standards and shall conform to prescribed quality.
- Exercises good judgment and care in the handling of all tools, gages, and parts that are in process.
- Keeps their machines and work areas clean and in good order.
- Participates in "continuous improvement" efforts with the classification/department.
- Perform specific functions that are directly associated with hazardous waste.
- Ability to use/setup precision measuring equipment (i.e. air gauge, micrometers, calipers, etc.).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
