Job Description

General Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated drug metabolism and biotransformation senior scientist to join our biotransformation team within DMPK department. This role involves conducting in vitro and in vivo studies and providing scientific expertise in the study of drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and biotransformation pathways, with a focus on optimizing drug development and safety profiles.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct cold and radiolabeled in vitro and in vivo studies to characterize the metabolism of novel small molecule, oligonucleotide, and ADC drug candidates.
  • Identify and characterize metabolites using analytical techniques such as LC-HRMS and NMR.
  • Investigate reaction phenotyping to identify enzymes responsible for drug metabolism.
  • Develop and refine methods to elucidate drug biotransformation pathways and their relevance to pharmacokinetics, efficacy, and safety.
  • Analyze experimental data and prepare detailed reports, presentations, and scientific papers for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide insights on metabolic stability, drug-drug interaction potential, and toxicity profiles.
  • Support IND, NDA, and other regulatory submissions with metabolism-related data.
  • Collaborate internally with other functions within DMPK, and externally with medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, and clinical teams.
  • Contribute to project teams, providing expertise on metabolic pathways and their impact on drug development.
  • Address challenges related to drug metabolism and biotransformation, providing solutions for optimization and development strategies.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as LC-HRMS (NMR is a plus).
  • Hands-on Experience working with liver microsomes, hepatocytes, tissue homogenates and S9 fractions, recombinant enzymes and in vivo matrix such as blood, plasma, bile, urine, and feces.
  • Experience with conducting metabolite profiling with radiolabeled compounds
  • Familiarity with drug metabolism enzymes and their role in drug disposition.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Track record of presentations and publications in the field of biotransformation

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) and 8 years of productive, relevant employment experience, or
  • Master's degree (or equivalent degree) and 5 years of productive, relevant employment experience, or
  • Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) and 2-5 years of productive, relevant post-doctoral employment experience

In this On-Site designated role, you will work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
