Scope of Position

The Imaging Services Patient Access and Operations Manager for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is responsible for oversight of personnel, business operations, training and onboarding resources, workflows, patient experience, and quality and safety processes for all Imaging Services check-in locations. The Patient Access Manager in Imaging Services will have specific and detailed knowledge and experience of Imaging Services in order to oversee all Imaging check-in workflows and processes across all Imaging locations.

Position Summary

The Imaging Services Patient Access Manager assists in the management of all operations within their work areas. This includes direct management of Supervisor of Patient Access Services, support of the Imaging Services Patient Access Coordinators and student employees, operational processes, and programmatic services. This role combines leadership with strategic business analysis to optimize efficiency and financial health of the department. Responsibilities of Imaging Services check-in functions include content expertise for Imaging appointment scheduling, exam prep instructions and arrival times, patient pre-screening for Imaging exams, accurate and complete documentation within the Radiology Information System, solving customer concerns and communicating directly with patients, technologists, and other members of the care team. The Patient Access and Operations Manager will have direct oversight of all Imaging schedules and ensure that department utilization metric goals are met. In addition to supervising, the Patient Access Manager is responsible for being able to perform all duties of the Patient Access Coordinator.

The Patient Access Coordinator (PAC) serves as point of contact for patients, clinicians, technologists and nursing needing assistance with WET READS, Consultations, second opinion reads and protocols from the radiologists within the department. The PAC is responsible for gathering pertinent patient information, orders, clinical histories, scheduling, data input for the Radiology Information System (RIS) and IHIS. The expectation of the PAC is to follow the customer service guidelines provided by the Medical Center and University, caring for each person individually, with the utmost respect and compassion.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire: Minimum one year supervisory/management or healthcare experience and/or a title of Patient Access Coordinator II.
