TITLE: Internal Communications Strategist
PERFORMANCE COACH: Manager of Internal Communications

POSITION CONCEPT
The Internal Communications Strategist is responsible for building communication strategies and incorporating them into the organization's broader integrated marketing communication plan. These communications focus on customer, stakeholder and employee communications. Internal Communications Strategist will also help to develop and oversee the successful implementation of the communication strategies and integrated marketing communication plan to ensure the business strategy, goals and initiatives of Tampa Electric are accomplished.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist in developing the strategy and plans for proactive and reactive internal communications using a variety of approaches including blogs, Q&As, videos, podcasts, infographic content, posters, webinars, etc. Ensure that internal communications are in line with the voice of the Tampa Electric brand. Keep the messaging relevant, relatable and responsive to enhance employee engagement and adoption of internal initiatives. (40%)
2. Assist with developing communication strategies with a heavy emphasis on internal engagement, incorporate them into the organization's broader integrated marketing communication plan for maximum employee awareness and adoption. Responsible for providing communication leadership to internal partners, developing and implementing an employee experience strategy and communication plan that empowers and equips team members to be successful. (20%)
3. Collaborate with Customer Experience, Safety, HR, IT, Operations and other internal teams to understand employee communication needs and generate on-brand, consistent and engaging messaging across the company. Work across teams and departments to secure approvals, make necessary edits and distribute content in a timely fashion. (10%)
4. Work with Internal Communications team and the Channel Management team to understand the broader communications plan, goals, campaign themes, timelines and channel effectiveness. In coordination with the Channel Management team, develop and manage channel strategies, ensuring KPIs are met and/or exceeded including product marketing goals, communication recall and positive sentiment. (10%)
5. Develops executive level messages, speeches and presentations. Makes recommendations on elements that should be included, appropriate tone and key messages that should be included with officer remarks. Responsible for grammatical accuracy. Writes effective and compelling speeches and presentations the convey impactful information and presents the officer in a manner consistent with the TECO brand and culture. (10%)
6. Maintain a strong collaborative relationship with the Channel Management team, the Brand & Strategy team and the Creative Content Development team; always working across the groups, sharing expertise across the disciplines, and working closely to actively promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. (10%)
SUPERVISION
Indirect Supervision: Relationships with external third-party program vendors, creative service providers and marketing agencies.
RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: TECO Department leads, HR, Safety, IT, Operations, Customer Experience, Communications & Marketing
Key External: Vendors, service providers and industry associations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Bachelor's in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.
Licenses/Certifications
Required: Must maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 7years of experience in communications with demonstrated experience developing comprehensive and strategic communication plans including employee communications, extensive writing and editing experience.
Preferred: Experience in editing video and audio.
