Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The IT Project Manager oversees and manages projects related to Epic-related implementation projects and other assignments as necessary for Ambulatory, Revenue Cycle, Inpatient and Ancillary Systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Utilizes project management methods, processes, policies, and tools established by the IS&T Program Management Office to manage timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Develops and tracks quality, performance, and usage metrics for the Epic project and systems, and prepares necessary collaterals as appropriate.
  • Works closely with the PMO, Epic, and other IS&T leaders and resources to ensure tasks are clearly defined and completed on scope, on budget and on-time, while aggressively managing issues and risks as appropriate.
  • Interfaces with other Jefferson Enterprise and Clinical leadership to align the work of the systems groups with the strategic goals of the enterprise.
  • Provides recommendations relative to scope, integration, and design decisions to the Epic project leadership.
  • Works closely with IS&T and Operations, adhering to planned budgets and forecasts, while providing appropriate documentation for variances and exceptions.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Functions as an advocate, Change Agent and serves as a positive role model for encouraging others to embrace operational changes and transformation associated with the technology projects.
  • Leads the development of appropriate metrics for quality, performance, usage, and outcomes related to clinical information systems.
  • Collects and aggregates data with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provides clear and comprehensive summary reports to the IS&T PMO.
  • Utilizes reporting software, web-pages, printed materials, and other media to convey information to stakeholders and management.
  • Performs others tasks as required.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

BA/BS in Computer Science, Business or Clinical related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:

Project Management Institute (PMI) Certification or Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven ability to manage all stages of the Project Management life cycle.
  • Extensive experience managing large, complex projects, in an Academic Medical Center environment and within other healthcare organizations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong leadership and multitasking abilities.
  • 5 years of Healthcare IT project management experience.
  • Experience in implementing information systems, clinical initiatives, including electronic healthcare, academic and research systems.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and Project Management tools is essential for this position along with outstanding organizational and communication skills and an overall commitment to best practices and procedures.
