Your Opportunity as the Cloud Architect, IS Database Services

Leads the strategy, planning, design, and engineering of complex enterprise data platforms (Cloud and On-Premise). Provides architectural guidance and thought leadership utilizing broad and deep expertise in a variety of database and cloud technologies. Supports and improves existing database platforms and advises and influences team on industry trends and new technologies to continue our cloud journey forward. Architects solutions to provide reliable, scalable, cost-efficient solutions for competitive advantage to stakeholders. Responsible for early project engagement based on our project management methodology. Participation in our IS Architecture Center of Excellence.

Location: Orrville, OH (Close proximity to Cleveland/Akron)

Work Arrangements: Hybrid ~30% in office presence

In this role you will:

Cloud Architecture & Support

  • Strategizes, leads, designs, engineers, and supports cloud and enterprise database platforms.

  • Thought leadership in architecture and administration of Oracle technologies, including but not limited to:Oracle Cloud (OCI), Oracle Fusion Apps, Oracle Exadata Cloud @ Customer, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), Oracle On-prem databases, Oracle RAC.

  • Utilize industry expertise to guide and architect additional cloud and database technologies, such as AWS, Databricks, Postgres, Redshift, MySQL, and NoSQL.

  • Assists and influences planning and implementation of our company's Enterprise technology roadmap to move key applications to the cloud over time, including several applications in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

  • Proactively research and lead evaluation of new technologies and platforms to assess the value add to the business.

  • Execute, enforce, and promote security and audit policies, procedures, and best practices - including for architectural visions.

  • Leverages and influences team on best practices for "infrastructure as code" principles and automation of tasks for consistency, efficiency, and supportability.

  • Participate and lead in IS Architecture Center of Excellence group.

  • Collaborate with team members on administration tasks such as automation, security, audit compliance, backup and recovery, patching, upgrades, monitoring, disaster recovery, performance tuning, effective incident resolution, and thorough documentation.

  • Provide 24x7 production database support on a rotating basis.

  • Build team and department capabilities through mentoring, training, and shared learning resources.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7+ years of Oracle enterprise database/technology administration experience

  • 3+ years of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) advanced technical proficiency experience

  • 3+ years of cloud database architecture experience

  • 3+years of architecting cloud based business systems

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing platform

  • Experience in Security best practices

  • Experience with UNIX/Linux/Windows operating systems

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using automation, scripting and orchestration tools and advanced tuning methods, such as GIT, Terraform, CloudFormation, and Python

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrates the capability to solve unique and complex problems by applying critical thinking patterns

  • Demonstrates ability to think conceptually

  • Strong mentoring and coaching ability

  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment

  • Ability to build/maintain strong relationships and effectively partner with peers

  • Understands and adapts to new or changing situations, requirements, or priorities

  • Flexibility to learn new skills quickly

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role (not required):

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Applications for ERP, EPM, and IAM

  • Experience with Oracle RAC and Exadata (ExaCC - Exadata Cloud @ Customer) environments

  • Additional knowledge of databases used in the cloud like Postgres and platforms like Databricks

  • Experience with ServiceNow CMDB for data platform maintenance

  • Knowledge of Cloud Active Directory authentication, like Azure Entra

  • Understanding of Intranet and Extranet Architecture and F5/Load Balancing concepts
