As a Systems Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:



  • Providing expert services in Engineering, Test and Evaluation, Analytical methods and tools, and Enterprise processes and procedures.
  • Supporting programs and projects in day-to-day systems engineering activities and deliverables regardingacquisition, requirements (Functional Requirements Document and Requirements Traceability Matrix), design, integration, testing, deployment, risk and configuration management, architecture, security, and quality assurance.
  • Developing model profiles, tool plug-ins, architecture frameworks, and model queries in MBSE tools across the system lifecycle.
  • Analyzing and contributing to systems engineering artifacts that align with the full design lifecycle.
  • Creation of Statements of Works (SOW) and similar documentation to support system procurements.
  • Supporting configuration management, physical configuration audits, and creation of change requests.
  • Collaborating with engineers across multiple disciplines to architect and implement critical mission systems.
  • Designing and developing new digital engineering capabilities and processes and support with sustaining engineering efforts.

Job Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • CBP BI, Top Secret, or DHS Clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's in STEM with 11-12 years of experience, or HSdiploma with 15+ years.
  • Experience managing large, complex programs for DHS and CBP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project and SharePoint.
  • Strong acquisition management background with knowledge of DHS/CBP's mission, vision, goals, and culture
  • Excellent writing, briefing, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and effective decision-making.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and experienced supporting senior Government leaders and technical/business professionals.


AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $140,000- $160,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
