Overview

SCCI is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to join our team. The successful Candidate will work in the Quality Assurance/Hardware Prototype group supporting the development of the Battle Management System's family of products. This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.

This position has the potential of up to 10% travel annually within the United States.

Responsibilities: In this capacity the individual would work closely with the Hardware Engineering team and Hardware Test team to address areas which may include but are not limited to the following objectives and responsibilities:



  • Professional assembly of components to include complex cable assemblies with high pin counts
  • Expertly create prototypes and rapid development designs to include sheet metal enclosures, plastic enclosures, small electrical component installations, component wiring, and various inserts
  • Professional inspection of incoming Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and Electro-Mechanical box assemblies
  • Able to diagnose and repair production level and prototype level assets
  • Conduct repairs on assets using industry standard manufacturing processes while referencing MIL-STD documents and drawings
  • Support the hardware development effort with time-critical requests for board and cable assembly modifications
  • Identify trends in product and equipment failure
  • Operate electrical testing devices: Oscilloscopes, signal generators, cable continuity tester, Ohm meter, power supply


  • Able to understand, navigate, and verify technical drawing packages
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and can interface with engineers and program leadership
  • Prepares and submits material and product deficiency reports


Essential Skills and Experience:



  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance
  • High School Diploma
  • Eight (8) years of hands-on experience with the fabrication and rework of electrical and mechanical assemblies
  • Must have experience Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and Electro-Mechanical box assemblies
  • Must have experience utilizing Navy approved maintenance manuals/procedures to troubleshoot maintenance discrepancies
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and comprehending schematic diagrams and blueprints for application of advanced troubleshooting as required
  • Experience with the operation, testing, maintenance, and sustainment of weapons and munitions
  • Excellent solder and rework skills



Preferred Skills and Experience:



  • A degree from an accredited college or university in a mechanical or electrical engineering technical discipline, or at least four (4) years technical and military weapons school and experience in medium size weapons or small munitions operation and testing, maintenance, and sustainment of weapons. Specialized experience in mechanical and electrical technical areas, and understanding engineering drawings and wiring diagrams, operating electronic, electrical, and mechanical test equipment.
  • IPC-610 certified
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certified
  • IPC-7711 and IPC-7721 certified
  • J-STD-001 certified
