Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Construction Administration

The School of Professional Studies (SPS) at Columbia University invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Discipline to teach in the MS Program in Construction Administration. The degree prepares graduates for a variety of careers at the forefront of project leadership and management.

This position will begin on January 1, 2025, but may be delayed until July 1, 2025. This is a full-time appointment with a multi-year renewal contingent on successful review.

We seek high-quality candidates with a graduate degree in business, management, finance, law, real estate, architecture, engineering or other areas related to construction management. Experience mentoring students on consulting projects, where students solve real-world challenges with industry partners, is a plus. The ability to form partnerships and collaborations with industry stakeholders to develop applied research and foster entrepreneurial ideas is also welcome.

This position will involve regular teaching in the program's core and elective courses. The successful candidate will teach three courses in both the fall and spring semesters (i.e., a 3:3 course load) related to project management in a wide variety of applications. The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Discipline will also participate in instructional design, student mentoring, and overall development of the Construction Administration program.

The ideal candidate will:

1. 
   

   Hold a doctoral or terminal degree in business, finance, law, real estate, architecture, engineering or other areas related to construction management. All candidates must have a BA/BS.

   Possess 10 years of professional practice in a change management setting, including leadership roles directing departments or organizations.

   
   
3. 
   

   Exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, instructional design, and professional practice and/or scholarship.

   
   

Candidates at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have teaching experience, documented evidence of pedagogical excellence, and evidence of professional growth and activity in the given field.

Candidates at the rank of Senior Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have substantial experience and accomplishments, a superlative teaching record, and documented evidence of pedagogical excellence in carrying out administrative or other department responsibilities.
