Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). One (1) year of full-time experience working in marketing, communications, ticket sales and/or an external relations role and environment (student experience may be considered).

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in athletic game operations as it relates to PR/Communications/Media/etc. Experience in a higher education institution. Experience working in a customer service-oriented profession. Experience as a member of a game day event staff.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Marketing & Fan Experience Assistant will participate in the development and execution of the department wide marketing and public relations initiatives to include year-long promotional efforts for Stony Brooks ticketed sport programs. In addition, the Marketing & Fan Experience Assistant will assist in the execution of gameday marketing operations during home ticketed events central to the fan experience. The Assistant will contribute to the execution of marketing special events for athletics, including special events and on campus athletic marketing initiatives.

Fan Experience & Marketing



  • Assist the Associate AD in the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing plan for Stony Brook's 18 intercollegiate sports with an emphasis on ticketed events. Work with Associate AD on campus Spirit & Pride committee to include all on-campus and off-campus initiatives. Assist with all in-game marketing and promotions associated with assigned home athletic events, to include but not limited to: the production of run of the show timelines and public address scripts, operation and production of video boards, organization of in-venue music and time-out coordination with band, cheer and dance as well as activation of sponsorship.


Gameday



  • The Assistant will help coordinate and manage the execution of all gameday scripts. Will work closely with multi-media rights vendors, communications, development staff and spirit groups to ensure that scripts include all necessary content. Mentor students to become a vital part of gameday staff.


Special Events



  • Work with Associate AD and campus contacts on all special internal and external marketing events.


Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.

Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
