The DATA Software Developer (Business Analyst) will work with external and internal customers to gather, document, and recommend business requirements and specifications for existing and new applications for various business processes/problems spanning a multi-business enterprise. The Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining standalone .NET software applications (full SDLC) with a focus on Azure-centric cloud computing. The Developer will coordinate with and report on projects and tasks to the Team Lead of DATA, who will work with them for scoping and prioritizing.

Essential Functions

  • Assess complex problems for appropriate solutioning (developed tech, purchased tech, process changes) in both business lines as well as corporate operations

  • Gather requirements and documentation with clients (internal and external) for application development, enhancements, and process improvements

  • Process, analyze, and present data relevant to given projects/work efforts in an effective and accurate manner

  • Write clear functional and technical specifications for projects

  • Design/develop standalone software to provide automation/solutions to the business individually or in collaboration with other developers

  • Design and develop User Acceptance Testing plans, coordinate testing, and document test results of new solution functionality and processes team internal and with dedicated QA/Testing resources

  • Implement solutions in project-based timelines

  • Maintain/support their solutions on an on-going basis, including but not limited to repository and change management for new features & requests

  • Own smaller scope development and non-development tasks independently, and collaborate with team peers & Team Leads on more complex items/projects

  • Coordinate questions/requests with the Team Lead of DATA in a timely and efficient manner to facilitate development/progress on projects.

  • Manage multiple active projects and deadlines through organization and coordination supported by a Scrum-agile framework

Education

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred; sufficient programming/development experience may be considered in lieu.

Experience

  • 6 months of software development and/or business analysis experience preferred, or relevant course work

  • Experience writing functional requirements and specifications for software development projects preferred

  • Experience researching & implementing programming solutions via online resources

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in one of the following programming languages C#, C++, JAVA or other object-oriented programming language

  • Knowledge of SQL databases

  • Ability to research, define and analyze business processes/problems

  • Ability to work with external clients and internal users to develop detailed, clearly written functional specifications for software development and for enhancement of existing software

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues

  • Knowledge of software development and maintenance methodologies

  • Proficient with Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite

Working Conditions

Work is performed in climate controlled indoor administrative office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending upon office or meeting location.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to remain stationary. The employee is frequently required to move about the office, operate a computer and other office machinery, such as calculator, copy machine, and computer printer; rarely position self to maintain files; rarely moves boxes weighing up to 10 lbs. Close and distance observation required with ability to observe objects at close range in presence of glare or bright lighting (e.g., computer screen). Must possess the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand and have the ability to interact with external and internal stakeholders.
