Executive Director of Development

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Development will focus on securing leadership annual gifts, mid-level gifts, and qualifying leads for major gifts. Directly reporting to the Executive Director of Development, this position will use multiple channels to qualify, solicit and close new and upgraded gifts from alum and friends of the institution.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a steady cadence of high-volume outreach to qualify and solicit annual gifts ranging from $1,200 - $5,000 for scholarships and other university priorities, primarily through phone calls, virtual meetings and some in-person visits
  • Identify new prospects and work towards closing gifts from those prospects
  • Steward select major gift donors, completing a multi-year pledge in coordination with gift officer(s)
  • Develop skills which lead to qualifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts from small portfolio of 20-25 prospects
  • Develop and implement strategies to work through at least 150 leadership annual gift prospects quarterly
  • Achieve monthly performance metrics related to qualification, solicitation, gift closings, and lead generation, including number and dollar-value fundraising
  • Collaborate with the Office of Annual Giving to support university priorities, including the segmentation of donor pools based on gift history, recency and frequency


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience
  • Two (2) or more years of development, product/personal sales or related work experience


Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Georgia Southern University

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in cold-calling, negotiating and closing gifts/sales
  • Experience with Blackbaud application software Raiser's Edge or a similar CRM software


Proposed Salary

$50,173 - $63,955

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
