Pharmacy Supervisor (Acute Care) - Macomb - Fulltime

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for collaborating on the planning, organizing, directing, and implementing the day-to-day operations of Henry Ford Health acute care pharmacy locations. Will be directly responsible for supporting, overseeing, and coordinating pharmacy services as well as pharmacy team members, professional and technical. Provides administrative support and direction when needed. Reports directly to the respective Pharmacy
Manager and/or Pharmacy Director within the Pharmacy Enterprise.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Able to function as a pharmacist and to staff within the staffing model when needed.
2. Participates in new team member onboarding and training as well as supporting competency assessments for team members.
3. Maintains day-to-day responsibility for within scope acute care pharmacy location(s) with oversight of other locations as defined.
4. Implements departmental policies, procedures, programs, performance standards and productivity indicators for acute care pharmacy sites and ensures each follows all federal and state laws and regulations. Assists in the coordination of all related inspections by licensure and accrediting agencies/organizations.
5. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, as well as Henry Ford Health policies and procedures to ensure adherence. Accountable for regulatory compliance for respective ambulatory pharmacy locations as applicable, such as HIPAA, Joint Commission standards and CMS compliance. May also serve as the lead in certain areas with regards to regulatory oversight and compliance.
6. Responsible for supporting departmental efforts regarding financial, labor and productivity targets.
7. Assists in analyzing periodic financial and pharmacy reports to improve operational performance.
8. Monitors and supports efforts relating to achievement of performance indicators.
9. Assists pharmacy leadership within the Pharmacy Enterprise on the formulation of short- and long- term goals, objectives, and initiatives for designated acute care pharmacy locations.
10.Supports implementation of all initiatives and policies developed by the Medication Management Committee and respective business unit Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committees as needed.
11.Identifies and helps to resolve automation, operational and clinical service problems working with pharmacy personnel and medical and nursing staffs as needed.
12.Assists in planning, developing, and implementing new pharmacy programs and services.
13.Assist with drug dispensing and distributive functions as needed.
14.Assist in the interview, selection, and hiring of personnel. Evaluate the performance and, when necessary, disciplines personnel. Provide guidelines and direction to staff in resolving complex employee relations matters and other day to day operational issues.
15.Makes recommendations for acquisition of new or additional pharmacy programs, equipment, and systems.
16.May provide education to other health care professionals, pharmacists, patients and students about optimal drug therapy, dosing, new medications, and research etc. This may involve formal preceptorship of graduate and undergraduate students or pharmacists, and both formal and informal didactic presentations.
17.Supports the development and implementation of patient education programs as needed.
18.Provides support and oversight over the acquisition, storage, and distribution of supplies.
19.Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate journals, books and literature and attending related seminars, conferences, and the like.
20.Ensures and promotes CCS commitment to customer services and total quality management.
21.Complete performance evaluations for all direct reports.
22.Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* PharmD or Bachelor of Pharmacy degree required.
* Pharmacy residency approved by ASHP, a fellowship in pharmacy or have demonstrated a similar level of achievement in the practice of hospital pharmacy preferred.
* Minimum three (3) years of experience as a pharmacist practicing in the acute care pharmacy setting or completion of a PGY2 hospital administrative residency required. Leadership experience preferred

* Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with a wide variety of system personnel, patients and members of the community and effectively lead work groups, inclusive of strong customer focus.
* Analytical skills necessary to support interpretation and administration of budgets, evaluation of methods of delivery of service to patients and assessment if effectiveness of these methods and recommendation of new techniques, procedures, and opportunities.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Current Michigan Licensure as a Registered Pharmacist required.
