This opportunity is for a Therapist to provide counseling services in an Outpatient Program and an Enhanced Outpatient Program to individuals of all ages. Under the guidance of the Supervisor, establish a written goal-specific treatment plan, serve as a resource, collaborating on mental health cases and consulting with colleagues, community individuals, or agencies on cases to assist in providing the highest quality of services. Also provides School Based Counseling services in local schools. School Therapists work on site in schools to assess student needs, provide consultation and education to school personnel, and make referrals. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role as a professional therapist is situated within the Somerset Clinical Services Unit (CSU), specifically focusing on the Enhanced Outpatient Program (EOP) and the School Consultation Program.

Under the guidance of a supervisor, the Clinical Services Unit (CSU) and Enhanced Outpatient Program (EOP) duties will include:

  • Providing individual, marital, group, and family therapy. Responsible for establishing a written goal-specific treatment plan with the consumer within the first two appointments and update TX Plan consistent with state regulations.
  • Collaborating and provide professional mental health consultation to other program areas and community individuals or agencies on assigned cases.
  • Documenting services provided with written reports and up-to-date clinical notes in the chart.
  • Independently, administering and interpreting various psychological tests and assessment deemed necessary through counseling.
  • Assisting the Case managers in assuring the highest quality of services to all consumers.
  • Assisting and coordinating the Crisis staff in arranging voluntary hospitalizations, when necessary, for assigned cases to aid in making as smooth a transition as possible from community to inpatient.

Under the guidance of a supervisor, the School Consultation Program (SCP) duties will include:

  • Providing group, individual and play therapy.
  • Formulating treatment plans and maintain consumer records.
  • Completing on-site school mental health assessments for students identified as having emotional difficulties.
  • Assessing student needs and complete appropriate referrals.
  • Providing consultation and education to school personnel and other program areas.
  • Completing follow up studies to determine if appropriate services are provided.
  • Independently administering and interpreting various psychological tests and assessment deemed necessary through counseling.
  • Providing crisis intervention, coordinates with Crisis Intervention staff as needed.

You will also be required to participate in monthly supervisory meetings. Engage in staff development initiatives and in-service training sessions pertinent to this role, as long as your schedule allows. Provide assistance in presentations and training sessions when necessary. Additionally, you will carry out other related responsibilities as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This position reports to the DBHS Office for work.
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Hours must be adjusted as needed based upon consumer requests for evening appointments.
  • On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands, or in the event of an emergency.
  • New staff will be on probation for 6 months.
  • New staff may be eligible for a hybrid of on-site and remote work after 3-months of employment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A master's degree in psychology or a closely related field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
