THE POSITION

The Health and Human Services (HHS) IT Delivery Center is seeking a driven Information Technology Generalist 2 to join our team and share your knowledge and skills to provide exceptional services within the Commonwealth. We provide end-to-end IT services to all staff in the Department of Human Services (DHS), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA). DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Information Technology Generalist 2, you will serve as the lead for Tier 2 help desk and perform Tier 2 application and user support for disease surveillance and laboratory applications to troubleshoot technical issues which have been submitted by application users. This professional is responsible for evaluating requests, troubleshooting issues, assigning work as appropriate, and following through with users to ensure issue resolution. You will also monitor Service Now for assigned tickets and to evaluate requests, troubleshoot issues, and reassign work requests as appropriate.

You will function as a member of the disease surveillance and laboratory applications system testing team through execution of testing scripts and other testing related activities as provided by the BAs. Duties may entail working both as a system test team lead and an individual system tester depending on the scope of the testing required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week.
  • Work hours will range from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with either a 30-minute or 60-minute lunch, depending on schedule. Candidate may decide schedule.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, however you must report to the office a minimum of one day per month. Telework schedule is subject to change and you may be required to come into the office more frequently. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office located at 2525 North 7th Street, Harrisburg.
    • Although this is a telework position, you will be required to come to the Harrisburg office to pick up your equipment. Other reasons for coming into the office include changes to the current telework that would require staff to come into the office, and to attend training, mandatory meetings, or on an ad hoc basis. Your supervisor will give you at least a 24 hour notice and all travel will be at your own expense. Parking is located at the building and is free.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66,250.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Information Technology Generalist 1, Applications Developer 1, or Network Specialist 1; or
  • Two years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • Four years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or
  • A bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
