Job Summary

The Supplier Quality and Development Manager is part of the GKN Engines Global Procurement team and is located in close proximity to Engines key suppliers. AsourSupplier Quality and Development Manager, you willhaveresponsibility for supporting our sites in driving and monitoring the overall supplier quality improvement activities across our supplier base, mainly in the US East region. You will work closely with our SQEs, buyers and procurement leadership teams in Engines business line and across our sites in the US and Europe.

The role supports quality and on-time delivery of our products from suppliers and their sub-tiers with activities like FAIR review, Problem solving, APQP/PPAP progress, Release Agent assessments, Source inspection, supplier assessments and continuous improvement activities in close collaboration with a cross functional team at our sites in the US and Europe to achieve a highly capable supplier base.

This role will be based in the US Engines East Region (Newington, CT) and will work mainly remotely at our suppliers in the region as well as with our sites in US and Europe.

Travel Requirements: 50-75%

Job Responsibilities

  • Give urgent support for critical quality and delivery issues and assist suppliers with root cause investigations and corrective actions
  • Collaborate closely with GKN employees across business line and sites to secure quality, on time delivery and rate readiness
  • Review FAIs and perform source inspection as needed
  • Support the supplier in review of process yields, and make suggestions for improvement
  • Support supplier implementing quality tools including statistical process control, control planning and mistake proofing
  • Support suppliers with manufacturing methods and processes such as machining, forming, and forging, casting and processing on complex engine parts
  • Identify & support implementation of supplier process improvements that increase output, reduce lead-time and reduce overall costs while improving quality
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing readiness and proactively support and resolve readiness issues
  • Participate on manufacturing reviews, transitions, new product introduction reviews, and manufacturing standard work improvements
  • Enable lean manufacturing initiatives that support continuous process improvement

Job Qualifications

Required:



  • Bachelor's Degree (in Engineering preferably) with minimum 4-8 years industry experience in Engineering and/or Quality Engineering (preferably in Aerospace)
  • Must be a US Citizen


Preferred:



  • GKN Experience
  • Experience in working with Supplier Quality and supplier oversight
  • Knowledge in Aerospace quality requirements (AS9100, ISO9000, AS9145, AS13100, customer and regulatory requirements)
  • Proficient in continuous improvement and problem solving eg 8D
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of APQP and performing reviews and approval of APQP requirements
  • Trained in auditing to aerospace standards
  • Good communication skills with the ability to provide a clear vision of the strategy and processes for key stakeholders
