South Mountain Community College (SMCC) reflects the diversity of the surrounding community, a rich mix of rural, urban, and suburban neighborhoods. Job Summary

South Mountain Community College has an exciting fiscal supervisor role. Under the direction of the Fiscal Manager, the Fiscal Supervisor oversees a staff of four, conducting financial transactions within the college for students, staff, faculty, and external vendors. Responsible for directing workflow in Business Services as it pertains to many areas in the college including cashiering, financial reporting and auditing, analysis of financial data, and contract management. This supervisor role is responsible for communicating with other campus departments about their area of responsibility Student Services, Marketing, Student Affairs, Instruction, and Administration.

Essential Functions

45% - Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work and day-to-day activities of fiscal/cashiering staff and assigned operating units; identifies training needs and opportunities; provides staff training and mentoring; participates in hiring, discipline, and termination activities; performs and oversees complex audits and communicates results; evaluates and recommends enhancements to internal controls, processes, and procedures.

30% - Plans, coordinates, and conducts training and/or formal workshops related to projects or systems; prepares financial reports and managerial reports; composes, reviews, finalizes, and approves reports and other work products of the unit; manages budgets and expenditures; reviews contracts to include third party contracts; identifies resource needs, assumption of risk and makes recommendations; resolves complex issues; directs and oversees the resolution of escalated issues and customer concerns.

15% - Provides professional-level staff support to committees, advisory groups, and others that may include performing research, authorizing documents, and making presentations; participates in strategic planning and decisions

10% - Conducts annual review of current business practices and involvement in the improvement of systems to use current technologies within the Student Business Services functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in finance, accounting or directly related field, four years of experience providing oversight of cashiering, financial aid processing, cash handling which includes two years of lead work or senior level experience.

OR

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in finance, accounting or directly related field, six years of experience providing oversight of cashiering, financial aid processing, cash handling which includes two years of lead work or senior level experience.

OR

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma from a regionally accredited institution in finance, accounting or directly related field, eight years of experience providing oversight of cashiering, financial aid processing, cash handling which includes two years of lead work or senior level experience.

Desired Qualifications

A. Demonstrated experience with student-related database management systems entering and retrieving financial information, including reporting.

B. Demonstrated experience managing, entering, and reporting from Financial Management software systems with attention to detail, an eye on compliance, and accurate reporting.

C. Must have experience working with a diverse population, able to research and solve complex problems while treating the customer with empathy and respect.

D. Must understand and have an eye for detail and accuracy in cash handling and reconciling accounts. Must be aware of security concerns, confidentiality, and proper problem-solving processes.
