Job Summary Provides lead oversight for HVAC Specialists (Journey level) and other workers in the maintenance of buildings and plants and performs journey level and specialized HVAC work in the installation, maintenance and repairs related to heating, ventilating, air conditioning and related equipment. Essential Functions 20% - Provides lead oversight for HVAC Specialists and other workers in the maintenance of buildings and plant which Includes but not limited to performing journey level and specialized installation. 20% maintenance, and repairs of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. Leads and trains others in troubleshooting complex EMS systems, damaged or worn-out components and repairing/replacing parts as required. 20%Inspects work performed by others to ensure compliance of applicable codes, conducts inspections of systems for leaks, abnormal noise, and electrical defects; reviews diagnosis to determine required repairs 15% - Leads crew members in performing equipment installations including evaporative coolers, diffusers, condensers, pump and motor assemblies, controls and other parts related to HVAC systems 10% - Evaluates and prepares cost estimates, initiates requisition requests and/or makes purchases; inspects and documents finding of work performed by others 10% - Develops checklists and procedures to maintains tools, equipment and work site in a clean and safe working condition. Reports technical issues and problems to their assigned supervisor 5% - Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of experience performing HVAC work equivalent to journey-level. OR An Associate's degree or certificate in an HVAC discipline, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution or a recognized HVAC vocational program and three (3) years of work experience related to the described duties of this position. OR High School Diploma or GED and the successful completion of a recognized four (4) year HVAC apprenticeship program and one (1) year of work experience related to the described duties of this position. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED. Special Requirements Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: 1. Journey-level card/license required 2. Possession of a valid State of Arizona Driver License (Class D) may be required for some assignments 3. May require HVAC certifications associated with assignment Required licenses and certifications must be maintained for the duration of employment within the classification. Licenses and certifications may be subject to renewal and/or require Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or training by the State or issuing authority. Preferred: Experience with commercial and/or central plant HVAC systems Desired Qualifications
