Senior Accountant
Hybrid Work Schedule
Responsible for the daily accounting activities related to loss transactions. Primary focus will be directed to ensure that accounting and banking transactions are conducted in accordance with policy, procedures, and contractual guidelines.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Review and certification of daily loss funding transactions and AP vouchers
  • Process Journal Entries in assisting with the monthly/ quarterly closing responsibilities
  • Perform / review monthly reconciliations and variance analysis of claim funding accounts.
  • Address funding/banking issues as necessary
  • Gain working knowledge of various policy/claim management systems
  • Assist with organizing and processing quarterly accrual, reclass and adjustment entries
  • Participate in financial and operational audits of TPAs
  • Ensure TPA documentation and Insurance Certificates are up to date
  • Perform special projects as necessary to support accounting and reporting
  • Proficiently be able to work with and navigate large excel files
  • Maintain professional working relationships with various TPA contacts. Communicate any noncompliance to leaders in a timely manner
  • Work with both External and Internal Auditors ensuring that all work is conducted in accordance with required controls and procedures
  • Identify process improvements and work with the finance, IT and operational teams team to implement the same
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance required (Minimum of Bachelors)
  • At least 5 years of working experience in an accounting/finance role
  • Reconciliation experience is mandatory
  • Experienced accounting knowledge is required
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office, most notably Excel (Access is a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills are required (Minimum 5 Years)
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Must be detailed, organized, motivated, and possess strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform and quickly learn new tasks with minimal direction

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
