Johnson County Facilities department is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of Accounting Technician II. First review of applications will begin on January 21, 2025.



Job Description

Responsibilities Include:

    Facilitates and reconciles accounts payable and receivable functions such as: miscellaneous receipts, purchase card transactions, and purchase orders.
  • Conducts tasks associated with payroll processing such as verifies timesheets, finds, researches, and provides resolution to payroll discrepancies; completes and verifies data entry; provides information and answers questions from staff regarding payroll issues; maintains attendance and leave tracking records; acts as department/agency/functional resource in data management systems, and provides training to new users; coordinates Family and Medical Leave according to policies, procedures, and guidelines. Delivers positive and professional customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Act as a back-up for postal operations including sorting and distributing inner office mail, USPS and FedEx/UPS mail and packages at the Johnson County Administration Building and the Johnson County Courthouse, answering postal inquiries, and maintaining postal software and programming with the appropriate account representatives.
  • Resolves customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person while providing exemplary customer service.
  • Actively works to promote a positive view of Johnson County Government and Facilities by participating in a high performing and culture driven department.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with Facilities customers to resolve discrepancies and exchange or update information; explains purchasing rules and policies; explains Facilities services.
  • Maintains files both public and confidential, distributes reports, and processes transactions into systems; types form letters, labels, mail merges and correspondence; proofreads information; schedules meetings, interviews, and other functions.


Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of administrative support experience are required. May require KS/MO driver's license, depending on department or agency.

Experience can substitute for education. Education can substitute for experience.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.
