Bring your passion and insight to a company that is committed to driving long- term sustainable growth this summer for our 10-week summer internship at our Headquarters in Portland, Oregon! Interns can expect to gain valuable hands-on experience within their department while building partnerships with teams and fellow interns along the way!

  • Location: Portland, OR

  • Duration: ~10 weeks

  • Start Date Options: May 19th- July 25th or June 23rd - August 29th

  • Application Deadline: January 26th, 2025

  • Pay: $22.50/hr

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Software Engineering Intern supports CSC Software Engineers in the design, development, testing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting of software solutions. This role ensures quality, security, privacy, reliability, availability, maintainability, performance, compatibility and integrations of solutions throughout. This person advances the team's technical foundation to deliver modern, simple, and secure solutions, and lift engineering skills within the squad. The role adopts DevOps practices to improve efficiency and confidence of software delivery. This role partners with Architects, Product Managers, and Agile Leaders to implement and refine technical architectural designs in alignment with enterprise standards, and to deliver software in an agile way with continuous improvement in mind.

  • Development: Design & Implementation: Responsible for design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and support of a platform or application. Maintain thoughtful application design. Build subject matter expertise in the business area. Quality & Performance: Follow quality standards. Leverage automation where possible. Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale. Practice in peer code reviews. Troubleshoot and fix bugs, security risks, bottlenecks, etc. Leverage support playbooks. Observability: Monitor and observe health, availability, and performance of software in production to provide appropriate application support. Assist with diagnosing performance issues found in monitoring. Assist with implementing new monitoring and proactive alerting mechanisms to inform the squad of issues before problems reach consumers/stakeholders. Technical Advancement: Learn about DevOps practices employed by the squad to advance the technical foundation of solutions. Innovation: Seek to understand the squad's current technologies and ways of software delivery

  • Product Backlog & Roadmap Input: Help refine the team's backlog. Partner with teammates and the Product Owner to break down work into reasonable sizes that can be accomplished in a single iteration. Ensure stories have clear understood value and defined acceptance criteria. Help inform delivery estimates (story points). Seek to understand prioritization and sequencing decisions. Seek to understand key dependencies.

  • Agile Delivery: Participate in agile ceremonies, including daily stand-up, backlog refinement, planning, review/demo, and retrospectives. Help drive collaboration within the team through participation in practices such as pair programming.

YOU ARE

  • Able to learn new software and technologies quickly

  • Self-driven and motivated to learn, asks the right questions to achieve goals

YOUHAVE

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.7 from an accredited college or university.

  • Coursework in and development experience with .NET / .NET Core

  • Coursework in building and interacting with Restful API's

  • Experience in cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Current student with one of the following academic standings: Rising Senior, Senior, Graduate/ MBA student

  • Degree relevant to the internship you are applying for

  • Must be able to participate in 10-week program for either date option provided above

  • Must be able to work onsite at our headquarter location for the duration of the internship- interns will partner directly with their managers regarding expectations to work collaboratively in office specified days of the week

NON-LOCAL CANDIDATE CONSIDERATIONS

  • Relocation assistance & housing is NOT provided- these costs and arrangements would be the responsibility of the intern for the entirety of the program
