We are seeking a highly motivated, high-performing, and skilled Advanced Operations & Engineering Researcher to join our team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to support the development of advanced nuclear microreactors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials science and engineering and be currently pursuing a PhD in Nuclear Science and Engineering.

Preference will be given to candidates with military experience in nuclear operations, who possess a unique combination of engineering education, extensive research experience, and practical experience as an operator.

Duties and Responsibilities (in the order of priority):

* Assist in advanced nuclear microreactors design development and validation through direct support of design phase operations procedures development.

* Conduct research and analysis on reactor engineering and materials science.

* Develop and validate startup and autonomous controllers for reactor applications.

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including human factors with simulators and system controllers.

* Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations.

* Develop, test, and implement first of a kind (FOAK) advanced nuclear microreactor testing, startup, and operations procedures using integrated systems simulation.

Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies:

Knowledge & Skill Requirementsand Years of Experience:

Educational Background:

* Bachelor's degree in an engineering, math, or science discipline with advanced nuclear technology synergies.

* This role targets a high-performing advanced degree student, preferably pursuing a PhD, in a science or engineering specialization with aptitude and interests in research and development that will potentially shape the advanced nuclear microreactor engineering industry. Research Experience:

* Extensive research experience in nuclear reactor engineering advanced applications and discipline(s).

* Proven ability to perform testing and validations using advanced technological applications including advanced reactor simulators and assess human factors interactions with simulators and system controllers.

* Experience on research teams, contributing to significant projects and publications in the field.

* Experience with I&C systems logic design is a plus.

Professional Certifications: US Navy Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license and/or US Naval Officer certification/qualification

The following certifications will add value in this role (in order of relevance): - Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) - Project Management (PMP)

Skills and Competencies:

* Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a science discipline with a focus on advanced nuclear technology.

* Extensive research experience in advanced applications of nuclear reactor engineering.

* Proven ability to perform testing and validations using advanced technological applications, including reactor simulators, and assess human factors interactions with simulators and system controllers.

* Experience working on research teams, contributing to significant projects and publications in the field.

* Experience with instrumentation and control (I&C) systems logic design is a plus.

* Strong leadership, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

* Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.

* Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.

* Experience working in a challenging or dynamic environment of applied R&D, startup, or new product development is preferred, especially with relevance to testing and experiments.

* Strong computer skills and proficiency in computer programming/coding
