Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Anti-Abuse Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in protecting our platform and customers by identifying, investigating, and mitigating spam, fraud, and other abusive activities. You will leverage your analytical skills, industry knowledge, and technical expertise to combat malicious actors and enhance the security and trustworthiness of our services.

Responsibilities:

Investigations: Analyze and investigate reports of suspicious or abusive behavior, including spam, fraud, phishing, and other malicious activities.

Detection & Prevention: Use a combination of manual and automated tools to identify patterns of abuse and implement strategies to mitigate and prevent future occurrences.

Tool Development: Develop and maintain custom tools and processes to improve the efficiency and accuracy of abuse detection and response.

Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including Compliance, Deliverability, and Engineering, to address abuse issues, propose platform enhancements, and ensure security best practices are followed.

Trend Monitoring: Stay informed about industry trends, new attack vectors, vulnerabilities, and emerging threats to continuously refine anti-abuse strategies.

Community Engagement: Represent the company in industry events, such as M3AAWG, and actively participate in professional networks to share knowledge and collaborate on best practices.

Customer Support: Provide expert technical support to customers impacted by abuse-related issues, helping them resolve problems and improve account security.

Requirements
  • Strong understanding of spam, fraud, abuse types, and the tactics employed by malicious actors.
  • Experience using data analytics tools (e.g., Kibana, Splunk) to analyze, report, and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in recognizing patterns and identifying trends in large data sets.
  • Ability to develop and implement tools or scripts for investigative purposes (experience with Python, SQL, or similar is a plus).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal teams, customers, and industry professionals.
  • Comfortable working in a distributed team environment with flexible scheduling requirements.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in areas related to fraud prevention, cybersecurity, and abuse mitigation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with email platforms, protocols (e.g., SMTP), and deliverability best practices.
  • Experience in a similar anti-abuse, trust and safety, or fraud prevention role.
  • Industry certifications or training in cybersecurity or related fields.

The annual starting salary for this position is between $106,974.00 - $133,718.00 per year. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
