UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual (UHC E&I) is seeking an Accounting & Reporting Senior Accountant to join the segment's Controllership team. The Accounting & Reporting Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the financial reporting team and will engage directly with the broader UHC E&I finance teams while supporting the financial close and internal (segment) reporting processes. A successful Accounting & Reporting Senior Accountant will demonstrate ability to operate in fast paced environment, understand applicable accounting rules and regulations, and perform thoughtful financial and variance analysis. Candidate must have solid communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while working collaboratively in active partnership with FP&A and other teams. This position will have direct exposure to UHC E&I leadership. Primary Responsibilities:



  • Participate in the financial close and reporting process including general ledger maintenance and oversight, daily tracking and analysis of segment results, and reporting to senior leaders on the UHC E&I financial results
  • Analyzes and prepares financial statements, including balance sheets, and associated key metrics.
  • Prepares documentation in support of external and internal audits
  • Resolve high level financial reporting issues
  • Collaborate with other functional areas within E&I Finance / Controllership (e.g. Financial Planning & Analysis, Revenue, Medical Reserving, SG&A, UHC Corporate)
  • Develop and maintain internal control structure and procedures for financial reporting
  • Prepares and analyzes internal and external reporting ensuring the quality, reliability and timeliness of the reports
  • Performs account reconciliations and analyses, prepares journal entries and reviews accounting classifications for Risk Adjustment processes in accordance with GAAP.
  • Support various special projects as required

Required Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting
  • 1+ years accounting or related finance experience
  • Working knowledge of GAAP; ability to effectively use accounting knowledge to collaborate with varying levels of employees and management to drive sound business decisions
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and apply generally accepted accounting principles, and research and analyze accounting related issues
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain solid working relationships across the organization



Preferred Qualifications:



  • CPA
  • Big 4 experience
  • Healthcare experience
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft Financials

The salary range for this role is $59,500 to $116,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
