Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) seeks an Accounting Specialist you will perform essential Accounts Receivable functions in multiple systems (CRM, Great Plains, and Evolv), and work with program staff to troubleshoot and solve any issues. Some functions you will perform will include:



  • Batch daily cash receipts and sort them according to AR system to apply to.
  • Enter cash receipts and tie out daily cash.
  • Apply cash receipts to invoices and research differences.
  • Research missing payment information.
  • Research & apply unapplied cash report.
  • Analyze and process refund requests.
  • Batch branch banking cash receipts.
  • Research & apply branch banking cash receipts.
  • Research aging reports to look for trends and suggest actions.
  • Perform account reconciliations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • 2 - 3 years accounting experience required.
  • 2 yr degree in Accounting, Finance preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applying insurance checks strongly desired.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Great Plains desired.
  • Ability to work with a high volume of checks.
  • Must be well-organized and detail-oriented to complete work correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Strong analytical, investigative and organizational skills.
  • Must have strong communication skills (listening, speaking and writing).
