What is the Opportunity?

Information Technology Risk SME will report to the VP, US CIO Operations. The US IT Risk team is responsible for providing a comprehensive view of IT Risk across Royal Bank of Canada's US business units - Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Global Asset Management, City National Bank and RBC Bank.

The team is responsible for overseeing risk management practices, reporting to the regional Board, conducting risk assessments, ensuring that appropriate controls are in place, and engaging with US regulators on continuous monitoring, exams, and remediation programs.

Manages the day-to-day operations and effectiveness of security-related programs and initiatives; assesses the costs associated with potential threats and solutions required to eliminate or minimize threats. Manages activities through senior managers and managers and implements corporate and divisional strategic plans and budgets.

What will you do?

  • Design, Build. And operate an IT Risk Management platform to measure IT and Operational Risks across the organization - ensuring completeness and the ability to report at granular levels.
  • Implement operational risk governance and security models to enable data provenance, transparency, re-use and instill confidence in data driven insights, including build technology risk methodology and frameworks.
  • Establish and build credibility with stakeholders and senior leaders to provide representation that is seen as professional, positive, and credible.
  • Work in collaboration as a trusted partner to ensure that projects are planned, managed, and executed in alignment with the functional strategy and goals.
  • Manage various global stakeholders across levels (including executives and external regulators) and engage in business development and execution of business requirements.
  • Build and manage effective relationships with key project stakeholders, team members, and other business, functional and support groups. Liaise with third party suppliers as appropriate.
  • Seek industry trends and organization knowledge to understand alternative approaches.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure alignment of cross functional initiatives.
  • Developing training on information security risk metrics, polices, risk migration and elimination procedures for staff, coordinating with audits and suppliers on information security improvement.
  • Leading in the development, implementation and enforcement of organization-wide security risk assessment and control standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitoring and assessing business needs against security concerns and recommending necessary changes to enhance information systems security.
  • Managing activities for IT risks control in business operations; ensuring that the server, network operations and applications are compliant with security procedures, systems, and policies.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • 10 or more years demonstrated experience in developing and applying/leading practices in, large scale transformation, IT risk and regulatory frameworks in Canada, US, and UK
  • Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of operational resiliency risk areas, including strong knowledge and experience of IT asset management, Disaster recovery and overall operational areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult and to lead on complex change management concepts and strategies, with a proven track record to deliver analyze and conceptualize data to meet research objectives and develop powerful business insights.
  • Ability to partner effectively with diverse stakeholders, including technology teams and supplier, on complex projects with excellent consultancy/advisory, facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $160,000-$250,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
