POSITION SUMMARY:The Division of Student Life; Recreational Services is seeking a Sport Programs Supervisor to supervise and assist in the administration of the Intramural Sports and Sport Club programs.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:



  • Communicate and consistently enforce university, departmental, Intramural Sports and Sport Club policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the operation of Intramural Sports and Sport Club events.
  • Respond to all emergencies (Accidents/Injuries, Inclement Weather, etc).
  • Handle questions, concerns, and complaints of participants.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and assist with training of Intramural Sports officials.
  • Officiate and keep score for Intramural Sports events, as needed.
  • Provide support for special projects or events, as needed.
  • Ensure outstanding customer service.
  • Work cooperatively with other areas of the department to achieve established goals.
  • Verify club rosters for practices, competitions, and trips.
  • Assist in the administration of assigned Intramural Sports including contest scheduling and communication with teams/participants.
  • Assist in the administration of assigned Sport Clubs including review of forms and providing guidance to club leadership.
  • Establish and maintain office hours as designated by the Sport Programs staff.
  • Perform other work as assigned.



POSITION BASICS:

Hourly Rate/Range:$12.00

WORK SCHEDULE:

Hours:6-20 hours/week

Additional Hours:As needed

DESIREDQUALIFICATIONS:



  • Previous experience as a Recreational Services employee or involvement in a Sport Club in a leadership capacity.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations.
  • Must be responsible and have strong communication, supervisory, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Mandatory attendance at required office hours and meetings.
  • Ability to use independent judgment when needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.



TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:



  • CPR/AED/ First Aid certification or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Completion of University of Iowa Bloodborne Pathogens Training
  • FERPA Training
  • UIOWA Security Awareness Training
  • Recreational Services Employee Orientation
