Short Description

The Child Activities Assistant will provide developmentally appropriate play, stimulation, and comfort to infants, children, and adolescents based on assessed individual and group needs.

The Child Activities Assistant will maintain a clean and safe play environment and will keep supplies and storage areas organized.

Responsibilities:

  • Distributes toys, games, movies, and other activities to pediatric patients; interacts with patients in the playroom or at bedside at a developmentally appropriate level
  • Cleans used/soiled toys daily according to policy; maintains a clean and safe environment in the playroom by checking toys and equipment for safe and proper functioning; records cleaning in daily logs
  • Oversees use and maintenance of electronic gaming equipment in the playroom and patient rooms
  • Organizes and maintains toys, supplies, and equipment in storage areas; distributes in-kind donations to patients as needed
  • Documents activities and services provided within the patient's electronic health record
  • Delegates appropriate duties to volunteers as needed

Experience Required

3-5 years experience required, working with children


Education Requirements

High School/ GED required

Associates Degree preferred in Psychology, Child Development, or other related field


License/Certification Requirements

Skills/Qualifications

Communication - Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers
CPR-BLS preferred
