Description

Ricardo Defense is seeking a Business Portfolio Manager to lead and manage a portfolio of projects associated with cutting-edge initiatives that advance warfighter capabilities. The Business Portfolio Manager is responsible for strategic oversight of the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple projects. This critical position leads and guides a team of Project Managers in disciplined project execution, while contributing to the capture of repeat business and portfolio expansion opportunities.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills, along with a track record of successful project management and a proven ability to implement process improvement.

Applicants must be local to Troy, MI or willing to relocate. This position will be working out of our Troy, MI office three days per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of project managers to provide guidance, support, and mentorship throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and implement portfolio management strategies, processes, and best practices to ensure repeatable success in executing a portfolio of projects within budget, scope, and schedule.
  • Maintain visibility of the portfolio as a whole and each project individually, to include tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and communicating status, opportunities, and risks to senior leadership.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the portfolio management function.
  • Collaborate with Business Development to secure repeat customer business, identify opportunities for portfolio expansion, and facilitate engagement opportunities with customer stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Functional Leadership to ensure projects within the portfolio have sufficient allocation of human resources.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, program and project management methodologies, and emerging technologies to enhance delivery effectiveness and drive innovation.
  • Advocate for employee development and growth opportunities.
  • Recognize and celebrate significant employee accomplishments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems).
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager successfully delivering complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing project management processes and best practices to improve execution discipline, repeatability, and efficiency.
  • Project management certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PgMP (Program Management Professional) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively interface with both internal and external customers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to obtain a Common Access Card, Government Security Clearance and maintain a clearance.
