Description
Manhattan Strategy Group (MSG), a management consulting firm based in Bethesda, MD, is seeking an Analyst to support technical assistance (TA), research, capacity-building projects primarily for education clients and program participants including the U.S. Department of Education, State education agencies, school districts, schools, and other grantee organizations. The Analyst may also support projects in other education areas such as labor/workforce development, health and human services, arts programs, and science programs.
The purpose of these projects is to helpStates and other grantees to advance their education programs by:
- Designing and delivering TA and capacity-building services to Federal, State and local educational systems and grantees using the latest evidence-based practices through various methods (e.g., webinars, peer-to-peer exchanges, coaching, communities of practice) that lead to measurable impacts to educational systems.
- Engaging stakeholders to incorporate the views of a broad range of perspectives and communicating with identified audiences to broadly disseminate information and products.
- Designing and implementing performance management and evaluation (formative and summative) systems, including coordinating with an institutional review board (IRB) to comply with policies and procedures and data analysis methods (qualitative and quantitative), to collect data on the use, reach, and impact of services in alignment with the planned measures.
- Developing procedures and processes for project management that support effective service provision in a timely manner within allocated budgets.
Candidates for this position will have interest in working on projects in at least three of these areas:
- Education systems & Federal requirements (e.g., data, assessment, accountability systems; school improvement and turnaround)
- Educator workforce systems and shortages (e.g., leadership development; teacher prep, PD, career pathways; workforce diversity)
- Education choice (e.g., alternative school models like charters, magnets, online/digital learning).
- Summer, afterschool, & out-of-school time programs.
- Safe, healthy, and engaged school communities (e.g., student & family engagement; school climate, discipline, and absenteeism; school-based mental & behavioral health)
- Instruction, assessment, and achievement (literacy, mathematics, science, college and career readiness, career technical education, academic recovery)
- Postsecondary and adult education and the intersection between education and workforce development (e.g., career pathways, dual enrollment, adult literacy)
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Serve as a team member on multiple projects working with project leaders, subject matter experts, and other team members to carry out assigned tasks and produce high-quality deliverables in the form of documents and services.
- Independently and proactively identify potential problems and recommend solutions or new processes to make improvements.
- Participate in internal and external meetings.
- Perform administrative duties such as taking notes, updating information and data tracking systems, analyzing data, and summarizing key topics.
- Coordinate assigned tasks from vision to final execution.
- Coordinate the development of TA resources such as papers, reports, manuals, online tutorials, webinars, and resource guides.
- Ensure a high quality of work through strong attention to detail.
- Be comfortable in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment with a proven ability to multi-task and juggle multiple priorities.
- Contribute to a growing consulting firm by participating in business development and company-wide initiatives to enhance MSG's company culture.
Qualifications:
- Must have earned a bachelor's degree in education or social sciences from an accredited institution with at least a 3.25 overall GPA.
- Must have some relevant work experience (e.g., internship, work study, part-time/full-time job).
- Must have working knowledge of K-12 education systems.
- Must be able to speak to capabilities in and willingness to expand personal commitment to core competency areas such as:
- Clear communication through speaking and professional and technical writing.
- Time management and meeting expectations of internal project leaders and clients.
- Critical thinking and problem solving to recommend ways to overcome obstacles.
- Teamwork to collaborate and communicate with others effectively toward common goals.

- Must be highly proficient in MS Office suite and willing to learn other technologies.
- Must provide a writing sample of at least five pages of content personally written mostly independently.
