This is a fully remote role (within the JFG footprint Wisconsin / Illinois) One will be responsible for underwriting residential mortgage loans in compliance with bank, investor & secondary market guidelines, and rendering final credit decision accordingly. Act as a resource for mortgage loan officers.

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Underwrites conventional, government and construction loans according to JFG and investor rules
  • Uses in-depth knowledge of bank, investor, private mortgage insurance company, and governmental/VA regulatory guidelines to underwrite residential mortgage loans
  • Analyze financial information including calculation of income and debt ratios, verification of assets, collateral and credit review
  • Achieves and exceeds work goals for productivity, quality and turnaround time
  • Monitor external quality control reports and external and internal loan reviews to ensure loan quality
  • Evaluate facts and data to draw conclusions, determine the downstream impact of decisions and associated risks
  • Resolve difficult or challenging problems by identifying potential solutions and clearly communicate with relevant personnel
  • Keep up on industry requirements and standards through various training opportunities
  • Acts as a resource for the lenders and assists with training opportunities

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 4+ years of underwriting experience
  • Knowledge of FNMA / FHLMC / FHLB / VA / Secondary market
  • Encompass experience a plus
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • College degree and/or equivalent work experience
