POSITION SUMMARY:

The Material Handler transports and delivers parts from the warehouse to the production area. Manually loads, unloads truck, unpacks, shelves and places items in proper storage locations. Transports materials by hand truck, cart, or industrial truck to production staging areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Selects parts (picks) from storage shelves and prepares them for transfer to the production areas.

  • Delivers parts stored in the warehouse to production area and picks up material and crates.

  • Operates forklifts to transport and move parts from one area to another.

  • Inspects, cleans, and maintains assigned equipment.

  • Performs cycle counts to ensure parts inventory is maintained at acceptable levels.

  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: High School diploma or equivalent

  • Certificate(s) or License(s): Fork trucks or lifts certified or willingness to become certified

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Able to operate an industrial forklift

  • Able to always wear hearing protection and eye protection

  • Trained in MSDS sheets

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • N/A

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Light lifting, under 20 lbs.

  • Light carrying, under 20 lbs.

  • Moderate lifting, 21-59 lbs.

  • Moderate carrying, 21 - 59 lbs.

  • Straight pulling

  • Pushing

  • Repeated bending

  • Reaching over shoulders

  • Use of fingers

  • Walking

  • Standing

  • Kneeling

  • Repeated stretching

  • Specific visual requirements

  • Ability to distinguish basic colors

  • Ability to distinguish shades of color

  • Hearing (aid permitted)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Outside and inside

  • Extreme heat

  • Extreme humidity

  • Extreme noise, intermittent

  • Dust

  • Fumes, smoke, or gasses

  • Solvents (degreasing agents)

  • Slippery or uneven walking surfaces

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

  • Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
