General:

This position is responsible for the maintenance of production molds. This includes wiping down and dusting molds returned from the production line before they are taped for reuse, as well as buffing a mold should it be necessary. It also includes applying a proper base coat of wax to all molds before they go into production, buffing out the base coat to prepare them for use. Additionally it includes stripping off the old base coat and applying a new one as scheduled. The final responsibility is to cover and tape down plastic sheeting over all prepped molds.

Tools and Equipment:

Buffers, wax, waxing cloth, solvents, tape, plastic sheets, and personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, gloves, and dust masks or respirators (when applicable).

Duties:

Apply wax to new molds. Buff out the wax to the proper finish.

1. Strip wax base coat off production molds in use as scheduled and or necessary and apply new base coat to mold. Buff out the wax to the proper finish.

2. Inspect return molds for areas that are in need of maintenance or repair and notify supervisor or lead of the need

3. Prepare return molds for production by dusting down each mold and buffing out as needed.

4. Cover prepped molds with plastic sheeting and tape covering down

5. Place prepped mold in line to be returned to production

6. Keep work area safe, clean, and hazard free

7. Other duties as assigned
