The Institute for Community and Rural Health at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Northern WV Housing Coordinator. About the Opportunity Serves as a liaison between the Institute for Community and Rural Health and the community to facilitate quality rural experiences for health science students. What You'll Do Housing Management
- Schedules housing requests, including the utilization of the TRACKER program.
- Maintains frequent communication with school-based schedulers and coordinators concerning rural housing needs, identification and orientation of new field faculty and other student or faculty issues regarding input from the schools.
- Communicates with landlords regarding housing issues. Reports and maintains accurate records regarding housing repairs, safety, and other related housing issues. Keeps inventory of leased housing furniture, appliances and other housing resources for student use. Reports damage or breakage of items and assists in replacement and/or repair of items. Reports issues to ICRH in a timely manner and ensures issues are rectified in a reasonable amount of time. Keeps housing and inventory logs as requested.
- Communicates with students utilizing rural housing through email and phone calls. Assures paperwork from students are received in a timely manner.
- Serves as a liaison between the Institute for Community and Rural Health and the community to facilitate quality rural experiences for health science students.
- Finds, coordinates, and maintains local resources for the housing of students involved in the program.
- Orients health sciences students to community and local aspects of the program.
- Coordinates program and community outreach activities of students (when applicable).
- Reviews and approves rotations and housing requests for health science rural rotations occurring in the 13 counties through the TRACKER program. Ensures information in the TRACKER system is accurate as information is used to develop state and federal reports.
Administration
- Keeps abreast of clinical issues and concerns in order to assure the successful integration of the program with all sites.
- Maintains knowledge of departmental policy, professional principles, and/or reporting requirements affecting area of responsibility.
- Gathers anecdotal and raw data, assesses situation or program information, considers options, and proposes resolutions.
- Contacts vendors and clients to establish rapport, understanding and/or inform, as well as to facilitate use of the organization's programs, services, and/or products.
- Adjusts, refers for and/or investigates complaints.
- Identifies statewide gaps in health workforce recruitment and retention and collaborates with different organizations in the development of activities, program, and guides the development of toolkits and resources for improving recruitment across the state.
- Develops mechanisms for rural research issues around community engagement and sense of place experience and their influence on recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals.
Pay Grade: 16
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in a related field.
- A minimum of six (6) months of experience in the following:
- Managing a social/community service program.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered
- All qualifications must be met by t6he time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent verbal, listening, and written skills to communicate with students and administrative staff, school representatives, and state and federal officials.
- Possess strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work without daily supervision, show considerable initiative, maintain the highest ethical behavior, and maintain confidentiality.
- Required to be detail-oriented and able to bring an issue to focus and make decisions.
- Ability to handle abrupt changes in situations.
- Skilled at using current computer software, e-mail, fax, and other office equipment.
- Ability to relate well with people.
- Maintains skills in, or knowledge of, professional principles, legal and/or reporting requirements affecting area of responsibility.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
