JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Statistics and the CAUSE Program (Consortium for the Advancement of Undergraduate Statistics Education) are seeking an Administrative Assistant - Senior Support. The Administrative Assistant will manage the overall day-to-day operations of CAUSE. Key priorities for CAUSE are in providing resources and professional development opportunities to instructors of college level statistics; building community amongst statistics educators; facilitating dissemination of stat education innovations; and advancing the field of statistics education research.

Duties for the department include but are not limited to:

  • Monitor and work with all budget allocations for CAUSE
  • Process and monitor all CAUSE expenditures for events
  • Process and pay all invoices for CAUSE
  • Support eCOTS (Electronic Conference on Teaching Statistics) with the virtual event every other year as well as supporting regional in-person events paid by sponsors and registration fees
  • Supporting USCOTS (US Conference on Teaching Statistics) with the in-person event held every two years
  • Process all payments through SIMBA for winners from USPROC and eUSR which is a national project competition and a conference specifically for undergraduate students held throughout the year
  • Serve as the main staff support for all CAUSE-related webinars held throughout the year
  • Serve as the main staff support for CAUSE/ASA Jedi initiative, and all research programs including mini conferences, research reading groups, and new community building projects
  • Serve as the main staff support for fun collection/caption contest/A-mu-sing contest, and the VOICES conference with CAUSE
  • Coordinate workflow and communication between all universities that are using the CAUSE program
  • Coordinate colloquium arrangements including announcements, itineraries, room set up, refreshments and travel arrangements for the weekly speakers
  • Provide facilities support: assist with reporting maintenance issues; maintain office supply inventory
  • Assist with office mail distribution
  • Greet visitors and provide information, as well as review, respond to, and direct inquiries.
  • Support and coordinate special events, including reserving spaces, developing itineraries, preparing materials, coordinating work between teams, and serving as point of contact with vendors
  • Serve on various department and college committees
  • Coordinate faculty candidate visits for the department
  • May work with Risk Management on various agreements for events
  • May provide backup to the undergraduate program
  • Assist the Director of the Statistical Consulting Center (SCC)

Education and Experience:

This position requires an Associate's Degree and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel required. Must possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and be self-motivated.

Knowledge of SIMBA and Penn State travel and financial policies is preferred. Familiarity with LionPath, Cvent, 25Live and Adobe Suite software is preferred.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of reappointment.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
