The Nurse Practitioner is a professional registered nurse with advanced education and training in the medical care of adult and pediatric populations. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing care to patients under the medical supervision of the physician and according to the nursing process. These responsibilities include history taking, physician examinations, diagnosis, and interpretation of lab and EKG findings. With appropriate authorization, will also write and sign prescriptions or transmit prescription verbally or by other means. This responsibility involves ongoing collaboration with the physician. All responsibility and accountability are a function of the nurse practitioner by the collaboration agreement between nurse practitioner and physician. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Masters' Degree in nursing required with current national certification as a nurse practitioner. Certified in ACLS required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited masters' program of nursing. Receive eligibility for Prescriptive Authority through the Board of Registered Professional Nurses. |
