Position Summary:

As VMware Administrator, you will address technical infrastructure installation and configuration requirements, process development, monitoring and enforcement and general customer support services for the Navy at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (Philadelphia, PA). This position is contingent on contract award.

Clearance Requirement:


  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure information assurance/cybersecurity of systems, networks, and data
  • Perform system (VMware ESXi, VCenter, Linux, Windows), network, and database integration/administration functions
  • Apply security controls and monitor compliance of DoD and NIST standards
  • Troubleshoot systems, networks, and databases
  • Develop Life Cycle support programs and processes, and ensure equipment updates and replacement schedules align with Test Event schedule and capability requirements
  • Research and provide input on Risk Management requirements in accordance with project requirements, and attend project meetings and data collection/analysis/reporting activities
  • Support document development with content inputs, verification, and review
  • Support test environment development with replacement, reconfiguration and disposal of infrastructure components and performing cable modifications needed to satisfy connectivity and configuration requirements
  • Troubleshoot and provide recommended solutions for problems detected during the integration phase of systems development, production, technical refresh and recapitalization


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent from an accredited university
  • Must have and maintain a DoD 8570.1 Security Certification that is IAT level 3 compliant, such as CISSP, CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CCSP, and/or GCIH
  • Seven (7) years of demonstrated experience and knowledge in Virtualization (VMWare ESXi Server, VCenter, etc.), including;

    • Installation;
    • Configuration of existing and new VMs;
    • Integration;
    • Backups;
    • Troubleshooting; and,
    • Problem resolution with VM hosting infrastructure




  • Experience with Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to describe technical implementations
  • Organize work activities to ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities
  • Create/describe work activity estimates, progress and issues
  • Motivated, self-starter who is able to thrive in a fast, rapidly changing environment
  • Desire to learn
  • Foster positive work relationships with customers, co-workers, and visitors


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Advanced certifications in Linux and/or Microsoft Windows


Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
