The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting manufacturing activities in assigned areas and leading process improvement teams to achieve operational excellence initiatives. The position is responsible for continuous improvement and cost analysis of production equipment and processes to improve manufacturing methods, optimize equipment utilization, and streamline process flow. The position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of manufacturing and process improvement plans of varying degrees of complexity, magnitude, and scope. The position will generate and submit capital expenditure requests as needed to support manufacturing and facility improvements based on business requirements. Essential Functions Coordinate projects to provide continuous improvements, set-up time reduction and identifying inefficiencies in the manufacturing process. Develop standards to ensure optimum efficiency and generate methods to measure operating efficiencies. Develop specifications for packaging systems and components. Evaluate methods, machinery and manpower to determine, monitor and maintain efficiencies. Provide guidance and technical expertise to the manufacturing groups regarding the best utilization of equipment and manufacturing techniques. Evaluate, design and arrange production equipment within plant facilities and office layouts to ensure the most efficient and productive plant layout. Provide engineering support in a variety of cross-functional areas including production, manufacturing, equipment / facilities engineering, and process optimization. Conducts studies pertaining to cost control/reduction and implements programs for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods. Determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow to maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. Secondary Functions Requirements Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. 3-5 years Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required. Experience in compounding and/or packaging in a cGMP manufacturing environment preferred; AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience desired. Lean manufacturing, six sigma, and related process evaluation/improvement certifications are preferred but not required.
