What You'll Do in This Position

Define scope of environmental, technical or regulatory compliance tasks and programs. Develop innovative, cost effective solutions and challenges which involve unique or controversial problem/issues. Routinely use SRNS systems and meet all requirements without supervisory guidance. Assist in teaching newer professionals and guiding their efforts.

Incorporates conventional scientific concepts and practices, complicated technical requirements, new or special processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning where only general objectives are provided by management. Plans and performs complex technical and environmental compliance related tasks on defined problems with minimal supervision. Provides technical guidance to junior technical personnel. Determines the scope of specific problems based on general problem information obtained from management or customers. Assists in planning complex technical projects and regulatory compliance programs and coordinates these activities with other divisions/departments/sections. Ensures the fulfillment of regulatory and technical requirements associated with assigned tasks/projects. Responsible for proper utilization/training of personnel operating under his/her guidance and ensures that end products/services provided meet appropriate technical performance criteria and regulatory compliance requirements. Monitors/evaluates implementation and maintenance of site wide environmental and regulatory compliance programs. Serves as a formal reviewer of professional and technical documents to ensure their accuracy and completeness.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications We Require

Bachelor degree in environmental engineering/science or related technical field

Qualifications We Desire

PhD or Masters degree in environmental engineering/science or related technical field preferred.
Fully understands advanced theories, concepts, and principles of engineering or scientific discipline and judiciously applies them to environmental problems or issues. Possesses specialized knowledge of selected technical and environmental regulatory practices and applications. Applies in-depth knowledge of selected federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and standards. Recognized by group as subject matter expert.

Experience with the regulatory field implementation such as Clean Water, Clean Air, Hazardous Waste, CERCLA, and NEPA requirements. Experience with NEPA Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statement development is preferred. Ability to walk down field sites required
