Position Summary:

The Alzheimer's Association Massachusetts and New Hampshire Chapter opened its doors in 1980 as one of the founding Chapters of our National Association. Our Mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through advancement of research; to provide care and support for all those affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

The Programs and Services department works to provide programs that support people living with dementia and their families, including educational programs, support groups, and early stage social engagement programs. We offer programs designed for people living with dementia, their family members and caregivers, and professionals. This role is focused on expanding our reach to underserved and disproportionately affected communities with our community engagement and diversity outreach team.

Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Organize & deliver programs and services with particular focus on at-risk populations including but not limited to the Black/African American and Hispanic/LatinX communities. Programs could include:

    • support groups
    • educational programming
    • social engagement programming for people with early-stage dementia
    • representing the Association at other community events


  • Assist with projects to raise awareness of Alzheimer's and other dementia in underserved communities including:

    • Identify community organizations with whom to partner
    • Conduct discovery meetings with potential partners
    • Plan a programs or events to raise awareness of Alzheimer's and other dementia in underserved communities
    • Assist with getting our materials into the community


  • Collaborate with staff in the review and update of community resource listings
  • Provided on one one supportive follow up calls to constituents who have attended or been part of Alzheimer's Association programming, including our Physician referral program

    • Provided information and referral support by phone and email including: rapport-building, support, Alzheimer's and dementia education, and Association and community-based resource information
    • Document constituent information in Personify, the Association's CRM (constituent relationship management system)
    • Triage callers to other staff in situations that exceed the Intern's knowledge, skills or availability
    • Collaborate with Family Services staff to determine appropriate follow-up for constituents




Qualifications



  • Enrollment in MSW program (First year or second year)
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English or Haitian Creole/English preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Must be able to use Google suite (gMail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Meet)
  • Must be able to use Zoom
  • Must be comfortable with making phone calls and video conferencing
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Must have access to reliable personal transportation
  • General knowledge of the Alzheimer's Association and Alzheimer's disease, and willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, data entry and internet research
  • Comfort with learning new software applications
