The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Division Controller to work Schmidt Construction, Colorado Springs COI. The Division Controller provides financial reporting, analysis, and planning for asphalt production/paving and aggregate operations in Colorado.

Responsibilities
The Division Controller will:

  • Develop and maintain accurate accounting systems, records, and standards
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures for the accounting process
  • Manage monthly and year-end closings for multiple companies
  • Manage the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for multiple companies
  • Work with operations to develop and evaluate budgets and business plans
  • Assist operations with the evaluation of large capital expenditures
  • Review and analyze financial results with operations including measurement to goals and objectives
  • Utilize EPM/Hyperion financial reporting for trend/variance analysis
  • Supervising and assigning work to the office staff
  • Auditing and reviewing staff work for accuracy
  • Assist with Stand alone external audit
  • Ensuring that work is performed according to procedures
  • Training and developing office staff
  • Interacts with estimators to reconcile and account for project job costing
  • Prepare Prequalification document for government contracts
  • Oversee government contract compliance tracking and submissions
  • Oversee payments of state and local sales and use tax
  • Developing and maintaining proper internal controls in accordance with accepted accounting standards
  • Work with divisional site management/admins to ensure all revenue-generating events are billed monthly
  • Utilize financial data and analysis to assist operations with problem-solving and decision-making processes
  • Develop and maintain proper internal controls in accordance with accepted accounting standards
  • Perform site audits to ensure financial and operational processes are functioning as intended
  • Performing special projects, studies, and other duties as assigned by supervisor

Skills
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience at Senior Accountant level or higher with previous Controllership experience preferred2+ years of controllership experience Solid understanding of Accounting principles and ERP systems, Oracle experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of controllership experience Strong cost and general accounting skills
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills that reflect ability to analyze a broad range of issues and provide solutions
  • Strong cost accounting skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, with the ability to prepare compelling presentations
  • Ability to work cross functionally and reach win-win solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats including individually and in group settings
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Valid driver's license
