Overview

APPOINTMENT TYPE: Temporary (Temp)

LOCATION: Oak Ridge, TN

SALARY RANGE: $17.82 - $23.83 per hour

PURPOSE:

Provides energy and sustainability management skills and related project experience to plan and develop the design, reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, buildings, structures, and other facilities. Develops performance criteria and complex technical specifications for facilities and equipment necessary to meet unique energy and sustainability requirements. Defines and reviews project documentation and performs technical analysis to refine project requirements.

Prepares and reports information in regard to energy management and sustainability as required by Department of Energy (DOE) and others.



Responsibilities

    Provide energy and sustainability analysis and prepare reports, and plan for upcoming energy and sustainability projects. Conduct in-depth energy analysis for optimizing facility equipment and system operations.
  • Develop functional studies, specifications and schedules for alteration of equipment, buildings, structures, and sustainability projects. Perform technical analysis to refine project requirements.
  • Prepare annual reports including, but not limited to, the Site Sustainability Plan (SSP), Vulnerability and Resiliency Plan (VARP), and the Climate Adaptability and Resiliency Plan (CARP).
  • Research energy management and sustainability best practices and funding opportunities in support of the sustainability goals.
  • Assist with developing an internal sustainability working group.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

High school diploma and 2-4 years of job-related experience required. Associate degree in environmental, engineering, architecture, or sustainability related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience requiring similar knowledge, skills, abilities, and performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.

Experience preferred in the following areas:

  • Planning, development, and design of sustainability and construction projects from the conceptual phase to construction completion.
  • Long-range sustainability infrastructure improvement planning and forecasts, project coordination, implementation and execution.
  • Well-developed verbal, technical communications, and report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work closely with colleagues and other team members.
  • Ability to problem solve, develop and implement solutions to individual and unique sustainability and energy management projects.
  • Energy analysis and optimization - Experience utilizing energy modeling tools and programs.
  • Proficiency working with MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Proficiency working with financial and data models in Microsoft Excel and creating professional presentation materials in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency policies, and ability to stay abreast of all current policies and executive orders, etc.
  • Ability to conduct Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions analysis.
  • Familiarity with energy codes and standards (local and national).
  • Enthusiasm for renewable energy, GHG reduction and climate impact.
  • Detail-oriented and analytically inclined with extensive knowledge of sustainability and energy management.

*The candidate's starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate's qualifications to determine salary.
