Job Title: Recreation Supervisor - Ice
Department: Recreation
Classification: Non-Exempt

Hiring Range: $32.96/hour - $37.08/hour
Salary Range: $32.96/hour - $49.44/hour
Position Summary: Provides a wide variety of work in the operation of Ice Facilities within the City of Aspen Recreation Department.
Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the general supervision and direction of the Operations Manager.

Essential Job Functions:
Customer Service
* Practices and enforces effective customer service to all that use Ice Facilities, by modeling appropriate greetings and communication to users of the facilities.
* Maintains working relationships with user groups.
Safety & Training
* Ability to assess the general condition of ice facilities.
* Ability to understand Emergency Action Plan procedures and respond during incidents as appropriate.
* Currently SIRO certificated or able to obtain within the first year.
* Obtain and maintain American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certificates
Ice Operations
* Responsible for the supervision of the Ice Facilities staff schedules, facility schedules and daily ice operational duties in daily log.
o Depending on programming, duties may include organizing, marketing, supporting, and evaluating recreation programs to meet community needs and interests
* Responsible for hiring and training full-time, seasonal, temporary and/or intermittent personnel.
* Able to communicate policies, procedures and job expectations.
* Provides training and resolves problems as necessary.
* Responsible for supporting recreation programming in accordance with recreation business plan and industry trends
* Keeps track of program utilization records for facility usage including daily visitor counts.
* Responsible for safety during facility events and rentals.
* Creates and maintains Ice program and facility information on the website, voicemail, and publications, including RecTrac and web page.
Supervision
* Acts as the Supervisor on Duty (MOD) for recreation facilities, as assigned. MOD duties include responding to customer service, and operational issues. Ensures all safety measures and regulations are followed.
Retail/Inventory/Budget
* Maintains and purchases retail items for Ice Facilities.
* Responsible for monthly inventory reports for all retail items at the Ice Facilities
* Responsible for cost recovery and income statement reports for all ice programs and facilities. May assist with other general budgeting projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field.
Experience: Five years of experience working in recreation.
Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient in the following areas: Microsoft Outlook Email, and a basic understanding of computers and online computer-based technology applications, which include accessing web-based platforms.

Licenses & Certifications:
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date.
Must hold current certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR or be able to obtain within 6 months of start date.

NOTE: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements above.

Preferred Candidate: Has a bachelor's degree in recreation or related field.
NOTE: This position requires a Criminal Background Check upon hire. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.
Position Type and Work Hours:
* Regular full time, hours may vary with workload.
* Evenings/Weekends/Early Mornings will be required in addition to or instead of normal hours depending on department needs and special projects.

Work Environment:
* Indoors: Office environment, Ice Facilities (Cold Temps and slick surfaces)
* Chemical and Mechanical Spaces
* Outdoors/Off-Site: Meetings, training, and site visits at a variety of city facilities and areas. Some outdoor work may be required that involves varied weather conditions.
