Bolton & Menk has a great opportunity for a Natural Resources Specialist to join our Natural Resources team! This role could be located out of our St. Cloud office or any of our Twin Cities metro locations.

What You Will Be Doing:


  • Delineate aquatic resources and prepare delineation reports and permitting as required.

    • Conduct Level I and II aquatic resource delineations using Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) 1987 manual and supplements.
    • Prepare aquatic resource delineation reports detailing the findings of the investigation, completing the Corps and Wetland Conservation Act (CWA) Joint Application as required.


  • Assist in design, permitting and monitoring of natural resource restorations.
  • Research and prepare environmental assessments and permitting documents as needed or required.
  • Prepare Joint Application, as well as MNDNR MPARS application, for projects working in or around aquatic resources.
  • Prepare USFWS IPAC and MNDNR NHIS requests.
  • Work in GIS, mapping and related databases.
  • Communicate with reviewing agencies as required.
  • Assist with preparation of natural resource portions of EAW, AUAR and EIS documents.
  • Work in GIS, mapping and related databases.
  • Mentors Natural Resource Interns and Technicians.
  • Travels to work sites and project related locations, with some overnight travel


What We Are Looking For:


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in biology, ecology, environmental or soil science or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Certified through the MN Wetland Professional Certificate Program (MWPCP).
  • Ability to work outside in summer conditions on rough terrain.
  • Proficient with state and federal threatened and endangered species laws.
  • Proficient with applicable laws including the WCA and Section 404 of the CWA.
  • Effective interpersonal written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Understands natural resources concepts.
  • Understands engineering concepts and can read engineered plan sets.
  • Thorough knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite. (MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge and skills in CAD and design software.
  • Effective knowledge and skills in ArcGIS
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Understands and complies with company safety manual.


Salary Range: $48,000 - $67,000 depending on years of experience and credentials

Bolton & Menk is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to specific geographic location. Bolton & Menk reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
