ARFF FIRE CHIEF -Full Time

Description

Direct Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) response during emergencies, including aircraft alerts, fuel spills, and aircraft hangar incidents. Direct the planning and execution of 14 CFR Part 139 including exercises and events. Ensure the adherence of current NFPA and ARFF regulations as necessary to maintain 14 CFR Part 139 certificates. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local fire, rescue, and life safety codes. Develops departmental SOP's/SOG's, works with local fire departments and emergency response agencies to support the airport emergency response plan. Responsible for training and maintaining records for ARFF personnel as outlined in part 139.319. Ensures ARFF apparatus/equipment is in a ready state and required agent testing is conducted as outlined in part 139.319. Must be self-motivated and provide teamwork principles to ARFF employees. Responsible for hiring ARFF employees, counseling, performance appraisals, scheduling, and preparing budgets.



  • Ensure compliance with applicable FAA regulations, NFPA standards, and the Airport Emergency Plan. Initiates and utilizes the Incident Command System during any emergency operation. Direct training activities within the ARFF department in compliance with FAA requirements
  • Maintains training records of the ARFF department in compliance with FAA requirements. Ensures optimum performance and preparedness by developing standardized training and quality assurance in compliance with FAA directives. Direct and supervise service testing of ARFF apparatus and extinguishing systems. Maintains administrative records for the ARFF department.
  • Work with local fire departments and other emergency response agencies to meet objectives of the Airport Emergency Plan. Available to emergency call-back as necessary and directed. Commands emergencies using NIMS (Unified Command). Keep current on all FAA directives that apply to the ARFF department mission
  • Responsible for developing an annual budget. Orders equipment and supplies as necessary.
  • Develops ARFF Sop's/SOG's, ensure proper department staffing, coaches employee's to develop professionalism and teamwork. Prepare and administer performance reviews of ARFF personnel. Responsible for hiring, disciplinary action, promoting company policies and airport regulations. Ensure record keeping on Part 139. 315 thru 321.


Minimum Requirements:



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Ohio FF-II and EMT-B license with CPR card (Must maintain throughout employment).
  • 40- hour ARFF school and current 8 hour recertification course
  • Five years of leadership experience (Captain) in a full-time ARFF department; military ARFF service accepted.
  • Knowledge of ARFF apparatus and extinguishing systems, fire extinguisher maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills - Word/Excel


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Preferred associate degree or higher in one of the following: Fire Science, Aviation Management, Applied Business. NIMS 700, 100, 200, and 300.
